Casper got his wings

Casper passed on Feb 8, 2023. In the last 4 weeks: I hand fed you 4 times a day.4 vet visits. 2 antibiotics, fluids, pain meds, softened oxbow digestive support tablets, "mush" & lots of banana. In hopes of you eating on your own I tried so many things. Minced basil, fennel, mint, romaine, parsley, cilantro, dill, all flavors of critical care, SARx, appetite restore, probiotics, shredded carrots, baby food, pumpkin, pureed veggies, etc. I finally figured out the "right mush recipe" which you gobbled up the night before you passed. You would grunt a little when picked up, snored when sleeping & squeaked when you ate banana. After mealtime was couch time where you fell asleep promptly in my lap or next to me. Occasionally, waking up to give me some kisses. Your poops were good, bad, good, bad, good. A constant battle of making sure the combination of foods didn't mess your tummy. Your crooked mouth was most likely nerve damage from incisor removal/jaw abscess on the right side. To me it looked like a smile. Your left eye was bulgy & getting worse. Was it more infection behind the eye, tooth root pushing on the eye or something worse?
Through it all you showed bravery, strength, personality, feistiness, affection & appreciation. After your CT scan, the options were limited. No front teeth, removal of back teeth, possible eye removal to get rid of all infection & a future filled with discomfort & a weight loss battle. A toothless bunny has little chance of survival. Thank you Dr. Kumar & Dr. Kanfer for all your efforts. Foster Dad, Phil spent loving moments with him before the merciful decision was made. Rabbit Warrior, Cat (Zooh Corner) happened to be there & gave him love as he was given the twilight sedation. He passed in her arms without having to be euthanized. Phil told this brave little man, it was ok to go & Cat helped him hop over the rainbow as she has done with so many others. For me… I was given 4 short weeks to care for him & try to give him a chance. I wish we had more time together. Fate works in mysterious ways. You are now one of MY angel bunnies with a mouth full of teeth, eating a salad with a slice of 🍌 πŸ’™ U Caspie
